With a Blanket For a Sail...

Surgery was done last Tuesday.  They removed the entire uterus and they aren't sure what the mass was but it wasn't a fibroid tumor.  The way I look at it, as long as it is gone it doesn't matter what it was.

I came home from the hospital a day earlier than planned which pleases me very much.  The nurses and doctors and the rest of the staff were fantastic and over-attentive, absolutely no complaints in the department, but still...there is no place like home.
When I left the hospital they told me that I was to do bed rest for two weeks and then no lifting, standing for a long time, walking for a long time, etc. for an additional four weeks.  I nodded my head and agreed to all of the terms but inside I was thinking that six weeks was an awfully long time to deal with this nonsense.  I'll be up and around well before that.
At this point in time I am thinking the doctors knew what they were talking about.
So, I'm in bed and I'm not even feeling restless yet.
I have managed to catch up on my schoolwork.  Not saying that it's high caliber, but it's done and submitted.
Through all of this, school was biggest concern, so it is a relief knowing that I can keep up for the last two weeks and then with the holiday vacation I can rest up even more and I'll be all set for spring semester.
I want to thank everyone for their sweet comments and well wishes and prayers.  It really means a lot to me.
Now I am going to take a nap.

It's great to hear from you again - now you stay in bed and let all those people and ratties around wait on you hand and foot! Keep on feeling better and better.

Jebus Rayne! I'm so sorry to hear about all that. No wonder someone inside you sat down and gave up. I think that's completely understandable.

However, I'm so glad it's all dealt with, that you've picked yourself up, and have something very exciting to keep you distracted - Congratulations on Art School!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you.

I'd put a big fat Frida Kahlo book on your Christmas list if I were you. If anyone knew how to turn medical adversity into incredible art it was that amazing woman.

Wishing you a restful, but speedy recovery, and a very very happy holiday!

Rayne, you certainly are on the right track now. Keep getting up and brushing yourself off; a better lies ahead.

I liked all the "Rocky" movies, but the last one was the best, "Rocky Balboa." The best scene in it is when Rocky explains to his son what life is really all about--getting up again and again and moving forward no matter how hard you have been hit. That's exactly what you have been doing.

In the process you are doing what is right for you and making family, friends, are readers very proud of you.
