Safety Cones and a Six-topus

I've been sort of more brain dead than usual the past few days (weeks, months) and just not up to writing or anything else that needs logical thought.  However, I have been doing things.  None of which will better humanity or anything like that, but, I have been amusing myself.  I have discovered something called Amigurumi.  Isn't that a wonderful word?  It means 'a Japanese method of crochet that results in really, really, cute things.' Amigurumi is so much fun I can almost forgive them for that whole 'Hello Kitty' thing.  Almost.
Below we have safety cones.  Michelle wanted me to make these so she could sneak into her friends' apartment and leave them scattered about.  She wanted 50 of them.  After a dozen I told her I was done for awhile.  Cute, yes.  But, really, 50?

This is a sixtopus.  He was supposed to be an octopus but I did it wrong.  I made a leg then sewed it on, then made another leg and sewed it on and so on.  Apparently I was supposed to make all 8 legs and then sew them on or they won't all fit right.  Who knew?  Apparently if I had read the directions correctly I would have known.

He's still a cutie, though, isn't he?

I'm always so envious of those of you who do hand work like this. Most say it's relaxting, but my experience has been that it's totally nerve wracking.
Cute. Looks as though we've been invaded by orange aliens.
The poy-pul octopus is lovable-looking.

I want 50, too!

I keep thinking that I'm going to do something creative like this. And then I go back to surfing the web.

I picked up crochet a couple of years ago and have wanted to try amigurumi myself. I just haven't gotten around to it. It looks like fun. Only a biologist should care how many legs your sextopus has!

They are adorable! I remember, as a child, I had a Wilber the Pig my mom crocheted. :)

I used to crochet a lot...I liked to use strange materials and once made a scarf out of videotape...the best thing I made was a set of purple crocheted wings for my college roomate's Halloween costume...

I love the little orange guys and now I have to go look up Amigurumi and see what it's about

My aunt, who passed on years ago unfortunately, was a passionate crocheter, tho I have to admit she never crocheted anything nearly as cute as the traffic cones! That makes ME want to take up crocheting, just so I can make, oh, 50 or so. *lol*

Both the traffic cones for which I have a huge affinity for, and the Octopus are really, really cute! Gosh I'd love to have a cone like one of those!

You have more creativity in your little finger than I do in my whole body! Those are gorgeous!!! I like the "word" too!

Now how did I know that Intense Guy would have been here already?

(It's more than an affinity for those orange cones, it's closer to an obsession)
