The Frog Story

Here it is: The Frog Story

No matter where I go I find critters or critters find me. Many years ago we were driving to Georgia from San Antonio and we stopped at a rest area in Alabama. It was an open roof style rest area. The toilet stalls were along the right wall under the half roof and the sinks were along the left wall under some more roof and in between the two sections were beams, no roof. Also, the walls didn't go all the way to the ground. The bathroom was actually very clean, neat and modern looking and due to all of the openness, did not smell bad. This is a definite plus.
I chose a stall in the middle of the row and when I stepped in I noticed the most wonderfully colored green tree frog sitting on the back wall. He was smallish, about two inches long and he looked like a bright green jewel. I looked at him and he calmly looked back at me. Slowly, ever so slowly, I reached out towards him with one finger. He continued to sit there ever so sedate and watched me without any show of alarm what so ever. Feeling bold, I touched the beautiful little green tree frog gently on the back.
This is when I learned that little green tree frogs possess supernatural jumping powers.
This sucker leaped 6 feet straight up in the air, executed a 45 degree angled turn and dropped straight down into the stall next to me.
And that is when I learned that the stall next to me contained a large, hysterical, shrieking woman who seemed to have a reptile phobia. She stomped and jigged and danced in place all the while screaming out to God and whoever else was listening that she was being attacked by a snake.
For a moment I thought of tapping on her stall door and saying, "No, no. It's not a snake, it's a frog." but I didn't think it would be appreciated.
Instead, I stood there with my hands over my mouth and eyes wide waiting to see if the frog would make it out alive. The hysterical woman was now banging on the sides of the stall and her angst had reached new and unbelievable octaves. The frog crawled under the partition and jumped to the stall wall next to me where he clung, breathing hard.
"Poor frog." I whispered.
He just glared at me.
The screeching next door had stopped and I decided it was time for me to make my escape. I pulled open my stall door and raced towards the exit. Scott was waiting for me as I came out and he asked me what was going on in there. I shrugged and said, "Something about a frog or a snake. Not sure."
He gave me that look and I totally ignored him and got into the car. Shaking his head, he pulled out onto the highway.
"Oh, we need to stop at the next rest stop. I didn't get a chance to go." I said.
"What were you doing in there?"
"Nothing." I answered.

Hhahaha! What a crack up! Your response at the end was priceless! Thanks for writing out the frog story, I always wondered what that was about. I wonder just where that frog landed when it flew into her stall.....
